A Completely Different Perspective

Hey fellow Texans...this should make you laugh. :)

These are some excerpts from the paper today...

(Discussing the current heatwave) Results include early school dismissals, powers outages, and health concerns. The thermometer in parts of New Jersey is expected in the mid 90s, with the possibility of 100 in some areas. Humidity makes it feel even hotter.

Several school districts will dismiss students early today, as weather forecasters predicted that temperatures would reach the 90s for the third day in a row.

A weather gauge in Teterboro registered 95 degrees, and in Newark the mercury hit 96 degrees.

Meanwhile, air conditioners blew out of the store at Circuit City in Totowa. A salesman said the store had all but sold out of air conditioners by about 2 p.m., due to the heat.

Apparently they aren't used to having hot weather like this so early in the summer here in New Jersey. Most schools don't have AC. I was talking to a 3rd grader yesterday (only half-day of school due to the heat), and he said that the only rooms with AC at his school were the computer lab and the nurse's office. Many houses don't have central AC either. They are telling elderly people to just stay indoors. Funny - I wish that it was only 95 in Texas! That would actually be a nice summer!!

A cold front is due today, though, so temperatures should be back into the 80s. School can go back to full-days, and people can continue on with life.

I hope they remember this when they are mocking Texans for closing school for ice...
