Playing with Photoshop Elements

While Peter napped today, I decided to play around with editing pictures. I have a great camera and a great subject - I bet I could do great things with editing if I could just figure it out! Here's what I came up with today...

***I didn't edit this picture to necessarily make it better. I just used it to play around and see what the program can do.

This is Peter and his friend Sydney. They were playing in Peter's playhouse, and from the expressions on their faces, they were having a GREAT time!!!

Making Memories (aka Feeding the Fish)

As of 2 weeks ago, we are the proud owners of 10 little fish. While Peter and I spent the first weekend in June in Houston, Andrew was busy setting up a brand new fish tank. Feeding the fish every night before bed has become daddy-son bonding time. Andrew puts a little food in each of Peter's hands.
Up, up, up - Andrew holds Peter up close to the tank. Peter drops all of the food into the tank. Sometimes little hands make it into the tank as well, but he's usually good about just putting the food in.

After the fish are fed, Peter runs to me and says, "Yucky - yucky hands!" I take him into the bathroom to wash the extra fish food off of this hands. Then it's back to the playroom to watch the fish eat.

Peter loves his fish, and he always tells them "bye bye fish" when we head down the stairs. It's so cute to see how much he cares about them, and it's neat to see the evening feeding tradition that has formed between daddy and son.

Austin Children's Museum

Peter and I took a trip downtown yesterday to visit the Austin Children's Museum. I had been there on field trips several years ago when I taught elementary school, but I had never taken Peter there. Our friends Rebecca, Sydney, and Jack invited us, so it seemed like the perfect time to go. Jack is less than 4 weeks old, so he slept most of the time. Sydney and Peter, however, had a blast!!!
Peter is at an age where his attention span is about 1.5 minutes long. That meant that he got to see A LOT of things at the museum!! These pictures are just a small sampling of everything he did yesterday.
playing in the kitchen

making pictures with light and tiles

climbing up a ramp (that actually led to a slide, but he wouldn't go down the slide)

putting a golf ball in a baby bed

going down a slide that was more his type (less than a foot off the ground!)

checking out the hen house

recycling nuts and bolts (a.k.a. matching shapes)

hanging with Sydney

rearranging the furniture in the dollhouse

hanging with Sydney - literally!
(This was at the end of a ramp that led to an emergency exit door. I think Peter spent the longest time playing on this (about 10 minutes) even though there were toys not more than 5 feet away...

hanging with the cow

checking out a barn (and learning to share the toy cows)

climbing stairs

And less than 5 minutes after leaving the museum, Peter was out. He slept the entire way home. Then he slept for another 1.5 hours in my lap once we got in the house. We will definitely be visiting the museum again!!

My Little Man

Peter got his haircut today. A few tears at the beginning, but they quickly went away when a blue lollipop was brought out. Lollipop in one hand and animal crackers in the other hand made for a happy little guy. He even got a prize from the prize machine when he was done. Isn't he handsome? :)
