17 Months

He sure has changed!!

Peter is already 17 months, and I can't believe how fast time is flying by!! He is talking more and more every day. Although he still isn't saying complete sentences, he knows so many words - dog, Mom, Dad, hot dog, Homer, apple, bye, door, up, down, oh no, hi, uh-oh, water, bath, whee . . . and I think I heard him say Elmo today! He follows simple commands like being asked to give something to someone and go to the door. When I ask him about his cup, he just shrugs his shoulders like he doesn't know where it is. This is such a fun age!!

Zilker Park

Grandma and Aunt Amy are in town from New Jersey this week! With temperatures in the mid-80s today, it was perfect weather to be outside. Austin has some great parks, and one of our favorites is Zilker Park. There is a huge playscape, a train, and LOTS of rocks. Peter is quite into rocks these days, so he had a blast. After lunch at Souper Salad, we headed downtown to the park.
After several cloudy and cool days, Peter enjoyed being outside. He explored all of the rocks and sticks. He walked on the playscape. He drank juice while swinging. He even made a friend while playing some music.

While waiting for the train, Peter enjoyed watching the birds. Some children were feeding them, so they got VERY close to us. At one point, Peter was surrounded by pigeons. Something scared them, and they flew off very quickly. A few actually flew right into Peter and knocked him down. Peter then decided to enjoy the birds from the comfort of Mommy's arms.

We finished off our trip with a train ride around the park.
Peter was exhausted at the end of the day, and he almost fell asleep on the way back to the car. We had a GREAT day at Zilker!

All Better!

Peter has been symptom-free since Sunday...Praise God!! He seems to be completely back to his normal self. He's sleeping better, eating better, and overall feeling better. :) We have company in town this week, so Peter is able to stay home while I'm working. Hopefully this will help to build his immune system up before going back to Krista's on Monday.

We're headed to Zilker Park this afternoon, so I'll post pics tonight!

Nevermind...

Two VERY NASTY diapers tonight mean that Peter is staying home again tomorrow from the sitter's house. I will be staying home with him, so I'm busy writing sub plans. It's interesting...Peter ate well today, played outside, and was overall fine during the day. It's always the evening/nighttime that is hard for him.

Hopefully I'll be posting this weekend about a little boy who is finally well!!!

Almost better?

Maybe we're at the end of it??? Finally???

He threw up Monday night for the first time. Then he was fine Tuesday during the day, but he threw up again Tuesday night. He really didn't sleep much Tuesday night (neither did I), so he took a long nap on Wednesday. Ok, we both took the long nap Wednesday. :) He seemed fine all day Wednesday, but then he had a VERY NASTY diaper Wednesday night. He has to be clear of all things nasty before going back to Krista's house, so he's home again with Andrew (who isn't feeling that great himself) today. If he stays clear today, he'll be able to go to Krista's tomorrow to end the week. Please pray for healing/good health for all of us!!! We have company coming in next week, and I'm sure they don't want us to share our lovely illnesses with them!!

Quick Update

Peter was starting to feel better. We kept him home from church last Sunday because he still had the runny nose and cough, but he was definitely on the mend. He has even been sleeping in his own bed again!

Then comes Round 2...

He threw up 4 times in 3 hours last night. I never could handle people throwing up very well, but I think 4 stomach viruses in 16 months has strengthened my stomach. He couldn't keep anything down. Around 9:40pm, he drank some juice. When that stayed down for 20 minutes, I was hopeful that he might sleep. I finally got him to sleep around 10:30pm, and I held him until 2:45am. He woke up several times gagging, but then he would go back to sleep in my arms. At 2:45am, I put him in his crib. He was still sleeping at 7am when I left for work. Andrew is with him this morning, and then I'll have him this afternoon.

There is a nasty stomach bug going around, so I'm sure this is what he has. I just hope it passes quickly without hitting the rest of us! Please pray for healing and strong immune systems!!!

January 20, 2009...

...The last day that Andrew and I had a full night's sleep...

Peter has been sick for several weeks now, and he hasn't slept in his own bed (or any other bed!) for almost 2 weeks. Congestion, coughing, and teething are keeping the poor little guy awake all night unless being held by one of us.

We are waiting on results of a chest x-ray from the doctor, but the flu test and blood work looked ok.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we haven't fallen off the face of the earth...I just haven't had any time to myself in weeks to check e-mail, look at facebook, blog, or pretty much do anything that Peter can't help with.

Since I get to watch him sleep these days, I have gotten some cute sleeping pictures. I'll post them as soon as he decides to sleep in his own bed so I can get on the computer without sweet little fingers typing on every key possible while I'm trying to do the same. :)

Please pray for healing for Peter and sleep for the whole family! Thanks!!
