Walking!!!

Although scooting is still his preferred method of transportation, Peter is walking more and more. Here are a few videos for your enjoyment. :)

Also, in case you are wondering, he is not trying to make a fashion statement. This is what happens when you need a change of clothes and all of your warm clothes are in the washing machine. After lunch on Sunday, I was getting Peter ready for a nap. He had gotten something on his pants, so I changed him into pajama pants. As I was changing his diaper, he decided that it was a great time to pee all over his shirt. Good thing he doesn't care if his clothes match or not!

Visiting the Horses

Visit to the Cardiologist

When Peter was born, the doctors in the NICU heard a heart murmur. Our pediatrician heard it as well, so we were referred to a pediatric cardiologist. When Peter was almost 3 months old, we saw Dr. Holt. The visit showed that Peter did indeed have a small hole in his heart. We were told that it should close on its own. We went back for a follow-up appointment today, and it has completely healed on its own!
Andrew was able to leave work early to go with us. The appointment lasted a little over an hour, so it was nice to have his help. They started with an EKG. Peter was very interested in what was going on, so he was very still while the tech worked.

After the EKG, we had to do a sonogram of Peter's heart. We had lots of distractions - toys, goldfish crackers, Baby Einstein dvd, mobiles, music, lights, and more. Peter had to stay very still while the tech looked at his heart. She was great with little ones, and Peter did a great job for her. She was able to get all of the pictures she needed.

While we waited for Dr. Holt, Peter enjoyed scooting all over the exam room and looking out the window.

Finally, Dr. Holt came in to listen to Peter's heart. The sonogram showed that the hole had healed on its own, so everything looks great. He did tell us that we might still hear a faint sound in the future that sounds like a murmur, but it's nothing to worry about it. Peter is a completely healthy little guy. :)

After the visit, we took Peter to EZ's for a snack. We shared some of my chocolate shake, and he got to have ketchup on his french fries for the first time.

Thanksgiving - Part 2

Today we celebrated Thanksgiving with our family. It was nice to see everyone and be together. Peter was definitely the star of the show. He was a total show-off, and he loved all of the attention!

He scooted all over Nana and Papa John's house and explored every nook and cranny. He especially enjoyed borrowing the TV remote and changing the channel while Uncle Logan was trying to watch football!

After Papa John carved the turkeys, Peter helped Nana get a few things ready.

The food was delicious - turkey, green bean casserole, ham, corn casserole, stuffing, and much more. Peter ate his share of turkey and ham and enjoyed every bite. So far he has had turkey for 2 meals yesterday and 2 meals today. I think Thanksgiving might be his favorite holiday!

While I packed up the car to come home, Peter enjoyed some great conversation and lots of snuggles from Aunt Katie.

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful day - We are so thankful for our family!!!

Black Friday

We didn't go out at 5am (although I have done that in the past!!), but we did hit one store this morning. Peter slept until 8am. That is unheard of for him, so I was SO happy! Because he woke up late, I knew he wouldn't take a morning nap. After breakfast, we headed up to Michael's. Notice that he is learning to use utensils. :)

We have quite a few 5x7 pictures of Peter, so we picked out a collage frame for the wall. It was regularly $40. After the sale and coupon, we got it for $10.50. Quite a deal!

I'm not sure Peter thought so, but he was a good sport about it. I think he was thankful that we didn't have to go shopping at any other stores...

Thanksgiving - Part 1

Today we celebrated Thanksgiving with our friends. A few weeks ago, my family in Austin decided to celebrate Thanksgiving on Friday instead of Thursday. I still wanted to have turkey today, so I decided I would just cook for the three of us. Our friend Vinny lives close by, so I decided to invite him as well. A couple of days ago, I was talking to my friend Rebecca. She and her family were supposed to be in Houston for Thanksgiving, but they weren't feeling well. She figured they should just stay home just in case their little one got sick as well. I invited them over as well, so our group grew to 7. It was so nice spending the day with our friends!

Andrew and I brined the turkey overnight.

Peter's normal waking time is between 5am and 6:30am. At 5am, I heard him start to cry. I got out of bed so I could go get him. However, before I reached his door, he was quiet again! I figured he would sleep for a little while longer, so I went back to bed. I knew I needed to get up early to get the turkey in the oven, but 5am was TOO early! Well, this morning, Peter decided to sleep until 7:15am!!! Although that meant the turkey went in the oven a bit later than I had planned, the extra sleep was so nice. :)

Andrew and Peter hung out most of the morning so I could cook. I know Andrew enjoyed spending so much time with his boy today. Rebecca's husband, Jeremy, made several delicious dishes. He also carved the turkey (Thanks Jeremy!!). Andrew made the best mashed potatoes ever. All of the food tasted so good! We definitely had enough for leftovers. It's a good thing Peter LOVES turkey!
I tried something this Thanksgiving that I have never tried before - a peanut butter cup cheesecake. It was delicious!!
The kids had a good time playing together. They got to play with Peter's new VeggieTales nativity set that he got from my friend Michelle. They also got to read the ads with Jeremy. Peter found a few good deals, but he didn't think that getting out at 5am was worth it.

We are so thankful for our sweet friends. Thank you for spending Thanksgiving with us!
