Yummy!!!

For those of you wandering...this was Peter after eating penne pasta with alfredo sauce at Olive Garden. Aunt Amy, Uncle Jonathan, and Camille came into town after losing power during Hurricane Ike. We met them for lunch one afternoon. Peter has decided that he is old enough to feed himself, so mealtime is usually quite messy!

On the Move...

Our house will never be the same. We have a mobile toddler! He isn't walking...he isn't crawling...he scoots around the entire house on his rear end! He started out slow. He would scoot in a small area, mostly in circles. Then he started scooting around the room he was in, but he wouldn't leave the room. Now he scoots as fast as he can anywhere he wants before I go get him and bring him back. He tried to chew on Armani's bone today. Then he tried to eat his food. He had one bite in his mouth. As soon as I took it out, he had another bite waiting in his hand. Let the baby-proofing begin!

Here's a video of Peter scooting...

The reward for not wanting to eat dinner in the highchair...

Peter didn't want dinner tonight. He's cutting 2 more teeth, so he was fussy. Andrew held him while he ate, and Peter actually ate a few bites. The he got to play in the spaghetti noodles. Apparently you get rewarded when you don't want to eat dinner in your own chair. :)

A Glorious Homecoming

Roy Metcalf
March 28, 1925 - September 4, 2008 PawPaw went to be with Jesus today. He will never ever hurt again.

Philippians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

During this very difficult time, it helps to remember all of the good times that I had with PawPaw. Things like passing strawberry candies down the row at church, trips to San Antonio to learn about Texas history, listening to PawPaw go over the names of everyone at the Metcalf 23rd Christmas party...every year (It's hard to remember people when you only see them once a year!), hearing him say "Watch my incision" as I touched his belly YEARS after his surgery, and so many more. About 10 years ago, I went with a group from our church to Thailand. PawPaw and I taught the 4-year-olds during the first part of the trip. I loved watching him interact with the kids. He was a great teacher! On the second part of our trip, we worked with elementary aged kids. We took our kids to ride elephants one afternoon. I love this picture of two of my grandfathers riding on an elephant together.
PawPaw - You are my hero. I am proud to have been called your granddaughter. I love you, and I can't wait to see you again in Eternity.

Blessed be your name
When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s all as it should be
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering
Blessed be your name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, Blessed be your name.”
Matt Redman

God gave us PawPaw, and God took him home.
Blessed be His name.
