Van Saun Park

We visited Van Saun Park on Monday. We had actually taken Peter there a year ago when we visited last summer, but he was much more excited about it this year. He's at this great age where he enjoys looking at everything around him. He loved walking all around and looking at all the animals. We had a great visit! We started by riding the train. Peter loves trains these days, so this was very exciting for him.
Then we walked around the zoo and looked at everything. We took the stroller in case Peter would actually sit in it, but he was completely content holding onto it while we walked. After visiting an exhibit, he would grab the stroller without even being asked and hold onto it until we came to the next animal.
Looking back at all of the pictures, I find it funny that at least one of us is usually holding Peter and pointing at each exhibit. This is the first time that Peter has been to a zoo and actually been able to really enjoy it. We helped point out the animals, and Peter had fun repeating their names (ocelot was a favorite) or pointing out their eyes. I think the favorite animals were the prairie dogs at the end. They were quite entertaining, and they kept our attention for a while.

What fun! I think he is crossing over into that older toddler time when they are more aware of what's going on around them and can really do stuff. I bet you remember this vacation as the start of that.
